Firsty, does anyone here grow: "Alister Stella Gray" or "Mme Berard"? Could you share your experiences.
Thanks in advance, -Jimmy

Can I ask the source of the information you have been looking at for Mme Berard? For example did you look it up on HMF or ? Then I will know which rose called Mme Berard you are talking about.

Thanks Cree, I found out about Mme Berard from a different rose forum (American one) and it reminds me of Glorie De Dijon. Just want to know whether Mme Berard will do well in Australia. Is she fragrant than GDD? I also had a look at HMF - only one supplier, just wondering whether there are other suppliers that supply this rose. Thanks.

Hi, Can I ask that you go to the MME Berard page on HMF and look for the post comments and ask your questions there. I do have another motive in asking you to do this, but I assure your question will be answered (and you do need this answer before you buy this rose). You can then come back here and tell what you have learned. Cree |

Hi Jim, I went ahead and posted a comment on HMF about Mme Berard. If you read it it will start to get you on the right path. I would also check this post on HMF again as others may come on add further clarification. Here is the link http://www.helpmefind.com/plant/l.php?l=2.3969.0&tab=32 |

Hi Cree,
Thank you so much! That was really helpful and very interesting.
I guess it would be better off for me to stick with Gloire De Dijon for my rose order this year because I don't really like the look of "E.V.H" or "Adam".
Once again, thank you,
Jimmy.

No problem Jimmy Just want to be clear, the rose on HMF Mme Berard is the same rose as Adam (in Australia and around the world). So if you liked Mme B on HMF then you also like Adam.
You do need to be very careful when reading about roses overseas, as they often different to the roses sold here under the same name. We often have the same rose, but it has a different name. BTW our roses in many cases have the correct name and rose overseas is named incorrectly. This problem exsists all over the world. You also need to be very careful that the nursery is selling you the rose you think you are buying. Some nurseries sell different roses by different names than other nuseries, some sell the same rose under several names and claim they are different roses..(they don't want to miss a sale! LOL)
I believe that Alister Stella Gray is sometimes sold as William Allen Richardson and visa versa.

Thanks for the info. I think I'll give Adam (Mme Berard) a miss.
The name, Mme Berard sounds more a lot better (antique) than 'Adam'.
According to some source, this rose has a mild scent. What a shame, because I only grow roses that are fragrant.
My rose list for this year:
- Sombreuil - Gloire De Dijon - Alister Stella Gray - Golden Celebration.
I want to add more, but the on-going drought is a concern. |
