Cheryl have a look at this link http://gardendelights.forumco.com/topic~ARCHIVE~true~TOPIC_ID~782.asp

I bought these three Gingers at the Ginger Factory up on the Sunshine Coast in August 07 they were planted the day after we came back and now 18 mts later I still have no sign of flowers on them. I have to be doing something wrong as some of the Gingers I bought at the same place last October have flowered already..

The red torch ginger has not flowered either and it would be 2.5 mts tall at present..

How is your one Gail, did it come back or is it

if they don't they're weeds.

I know they do grow here as I have seen them in Ian and Judy Wintle place when they had the Open Garden one year and they are grown in full shade too, that's why I grew mine there.. May have to Google ..

I've got no idea which ginger is which now as tags got mixed up and lost and when the plants die back over winter I forget which ones were where

I think so but two special ones haven't flowered so not sure which one is which. I'll have to go back through my photos when I bought them... should have names on the pics.

Thats why I write on those venetian blind slats with my Artline Garden Marker they make the best labels for shoving in the ground the ink in them last for years as do the slats..

Those tags may last a long time but they go walkabout just as easy as the other tags I just had a walk around the garden looking for the beehive gingers and the one you gave me Mary-Anne is doing very well but no flowers, another one I bought is only about a foot high.

Thats good Gail.....My Tags are safe I have no dogs or children at home.

I have just come in from watering my gingers that torch ginger is huge, my second butterfly ginger has buds on it that I bought in October, no beehives on any of mine totaling four as I pulled some off each of those two. Costus the variegated crepe ginger is way taller than me and the smaller costus is very wide, the curcuma is shooting up too. The other three new gingers are just taking their time

But I have lost a Canna Lily I potted it up for you a couple of weeks ago Cheryl yellow flower green and white leaves, put it with the white Salvia both doing very well, its just gone normally I would blame those blasted Ibis but I have not seen any lately they take the pot and all away, oh well I will pot another one up tomorrow.

I hope gingers flower this year MA they look nice ones.
The only ginger I have is the variegated leaf one, had red cone with little yellowish
white flower ,posted recently.
I would like to have lots of Gingers as I've more shady area's than sunny ones
but you can only get a few new plants at a time.

Gwen I have keep some little red ginger for you that I grew from seeds that tube will fit in with those daylilies..

I will see in the Winter about any others I wont promise seeing they are not doing well but they are bigger rhizomes than Canna Lily.
