the new roses I planted last year have finally decided to start to grow, lost a few, I'm sure the new soil may have been a bit sour but after all the heat etc... they are doing a lot better after a nice feed , a chop and TLC

most should have been at least half ametre tall, next season

Ohhhh they all look so nice you have done wonders with all that scorching heat you have had.. Sad about the soil plenty of manure and you will get it right, my roses do not do their best till they have been in the beds for three years so you are doing something right...
Well done Cheryl

Thanks MA, as I have mentioned spent many hours over the past 3 week picking of dead leaves and burnt liter from the beds, BOY those day lillies are a pain getting the dead stuff of them, no wonder he back is stuffed
Some of the poor darlings are under a foot tall, well most of them are but looking much healthier etc...., all had lots of poo poos and other goodies last w/e, have to do all the back garden this w.e

I dont pull off the dead stuff on the day lilies Cheryl, if you leave it long enough it just comes away in your hands when you touch those stems... I never feed mine though they do get 30 cms or more of Sugar Cane Mulch on them during a year and it breaks down.. Are yours all in pots..

Looks so lovely and divine to sit on that new seat surrounded by lovely roses and other plants. How's Dark Lady going? Attacking you yet?

3rd. pic MA you can see the totems, a bit blurry the far left one is doing better, must get a bit less sun and more water as the bed area was a bit deeper there

Totems are very special! Of course that is not Dark Lady Cheryl. Wrong tags are sooooo annoying. But it is a lovely pink rose. In that position, you might actually be grateful. The Dark Lady is so thorny and so vicious with her long canes waving around. Mine has been pruned to within an inch of its life and we found two more under her. Oh Betty, that spare "probably Dark Lady" is healthy so I will dig it up and mail to you in a couple of months.
I bought a Mary Rose and it turns out to be Abraham Darby which is not too bad as there are two other Abes a few feet either side of it so I iwll get around to having some arch or other put there and it should be a good Abe show with three of them.

but I am disappointed Pamela not to worry, will not be buying from this popular seller again, after the losses and 2 roses labeled wrongly
