This is my painting that has at least 100+ hours left work to complete,To reverse the cloud up side down i`ve done both the top and bottom in a grid to help achieve a mirror image, when this is complete, final shading will need to be matched up Still lots to be done yet.

Excellent I do like the abstract panel.also the fishing paintings look great also . Keep more pics comming when you get time. Being a dedicated gardener does not give a lot of time for art. As you would know you cannot just paint a picture because you happen to have 2 hours free. Mood is everything .

Both are excellent
You have already put a lot of effort into yours Richard, so much detail!

Wow Richard, what a talented family.... you need to keep going and sell them. Gwen the cave is my favourite too and my latest one finished last year. I am just starting to work with texture, one is a thickener you add to the paint without changing its colour, but the real texture comes from a putty you put on the canvas first and paint over. I am just learning to use opaque versus transparent colours and am experimenting with depth that layers the transparents gives. The cave has a story, we took a youth group through it and I got mildly hypothermic, I wanted out but the student I was with lost a shoe and freaked out, its 300 metres in pitch dark and the water is below 10C snow melt.... I was really quite scared and my mate who is a social worker and I sat down and cried when we got out the other end ok, you have to climb up a steel ladder and belly crawl out at the end, the year before we did it a woman died, just got too cold to pull herself out, her husband helped the kids up the ladder and when he turned to grab her she had gone under and been washed downstream, I like to think some of that is there in the painting.

Photobucket as I saw one of you guys suggested at some stage, they are great. I wish we had downtime at work sometimes to graze the net but the clinic is superbusy usually. My husband has really only just worked it out, I got hom yesterday at 8pm having started at midday and my husband asked how long we get for a break in that time.... er no break love, me make a coffee and if you are lucky you get to drink it before it goes cold, yesterday I had to heat mine up twice before I got to it... same with food, you just get used to talking, eating and drinking while you work - love it though
