Mornin ladies, another great day coming up???i havn`t decided what i`ll do today yet,i could dance on the last of my onion seed,i cant make more concrete as my trailer has a load of wool ready to be sold so i cant get down to the river for more shingle,i cant hoe out weeds as it supposed to rain later today.

I just cant make my mind up yet what i should today, maybe its because Jackie hasn't brought me me coffee yet.

Took this yesterday morning as i was seeing the kids off the bus

Nice picture You can make your own coffee I've already had two

It's too wet to do anything here today so looks like I'm stuck inside... either work on computer stuff or do some housework I've been putting off... ummm... tough decision I might take a few more pictures in between showers if I can. Took a few yesterday but rain chased me in and I didn't finish. Wind is a nuisance when taking pictures though

5:44 in the morning.
what the hell is that noise?
*bang*
it just keeps going.
*bang bang bang bang*
there.
seems better now.

stock take in the big green warehouse.
had a nightmare of it yesterday.
i really enjoyed the task...organizing...counting...keeping track...being absolutely pedantic about it all.
then came the audit. essentially...check each other's work. got a young bloke's sheets to check (not THAT young. late 20's-ish) and oy...what i learned about him! his sheet was a shocker. he just guessed. he didn't count a thing. if it was too high up on the shelves to reach or to see....no worries...just don't bother to even enter it on the sheet. in fact...just skip entire shelves of stock. that'll speed things up a bit.
oy.
so guess who got to sort it all out for him?
oy.

it really cheeses me off that men continue to make more money than women....when their work ethic is so blatantly inferior.
i know that seems a sexist comment...but in the context of where i work, and have worked in the past, this is and always has been a fact.

there.
thanks for letting me vent.
now i gotta go do it all again today...but with strangers.
hordes of 'friends and family' have been invited in to help with the task.
we're having tea put on....and a the big boss is BBQing us our lunch.
i get to wear civilian clothes again.
should be more funner!

cranky people live longer. i'm going to live forever! perth, wa

oh Tessa I know where you are coming from having worked for that company
for 19 years
the blokes have always got paid more than us females, the union is gutless and does nothing about it
you could work your guts out and the bloke next to you will get the praise ,you may get a thanks if you are lucky

wait till you have your pay review and let them know how you feel ,it wont achieve anything but at least it will make you feel better

you say the worker made mistakes yesterday, wait till today then with family and friends you will be pulling your hair out ,but I hope it does go well as it gets so frustrating
good luck

Tessa, I know where you're coming from... had to put up with similar but at two nurseries I worked in I had great bosses... both said that as the girls do the same work as the blokes they get the same money so there are some enlightened bosses out there... just got to find them

Ian's boss is good. They can have time off whenever they want though they don't get paid for it. It doesn't sound that great when you put it like that but he is flexible if you need to duck out for an hour or so, also he gives regular pay rises and bonuses when things are going well (he notices if you put in that little extra)... and two weeks extra holidays too so he makes up for it in other ways It makes for a more honest working environment and happier staff.

cheryl maybe the guy genuinely had to have the day off to take his daughter to the docs or something ,you would have done the same if christian had an appointment
a bit rough not to pay him if genuine though

glad I dont work at your work ,seems to be only a good place for some
wont hurt your boss to get off his butt and do a bit from what you have told me
remember the guy had asked last week and he may not have known any earlier

He knew 3 weeks ago and said him Mother was taking his daughter for the appointment, this was after I said he could not have the day off, not the first time this has happened, always seems to occur after he begs to work Sat and we pay him cash so it does not effect his centrelink top up payments, lets the whole crew down Lorraine and the boss has a **** load of other work that I need doing, he work all weekend to get a truck back on the road for this morning, the other staff tend to forget that and the fact he may be still at the factory till after 10pm some nights catching up on the day to day stuff to keep us all in a job. ANd he ask on Saturday morning, his answer was I forgot Not good enough, would not get away with it in a larger org, some of the staff here just like to take advantage at times, we all get it too easy at times I think , including myself

The problem today is that there are so many younger people out there that are just plain bloody useless, sheep shearing, builders bricklayers etc they are all the same, employers are finding it hard good young guys willing to learn these trades, most are scared of working hard and want the big dollar as soon as they leave school

Could not agree more Richard, this particular driver is in his mid 30's, we cater so hard for him as he is a single Dad of two, however I managed with my boy for years etc.....he never puts in 40 hours per week and then begs for Sat work . I have advised him he needs to arrange his before and after school care, however he dont want to pay I think and relies on his Mum, which is all fine, but when we are busy does not help me out. Our business is supply and demand, a service industry and if we cant provide a good service we miss out I have lost count of how many days I drag my shaggy sick butt into work because I have to I have no probs in giving time off for Spec. appointments and such, but I NEED notice, he already knew we where booked out today and as a result I will get a **** load of calls later today as to why their bin has not arrived on time and or pick up

It is difficult with those sort of jobs where things have to be done today. Your boss needs a semi-retired bloke as a relief driver to come in when necessary... trouble is they usually cost too much
