Nice to hear you paint Richard .Painting runs through my family. My Mother painted in oils and was very artistic in many ways. Until my stroke I painted ,oils, acrylics, water colour, water, colour pencils, and charcoal . My son who is now 50years is a painter whenever he can get to it, he has won awards. Daughter Faye is a painter and has won awards with the annual exhibitions here. My other 2 kids also are artistically talanted but don't get the time.

I'm like Cheryl but I can do stuff on the computer... I like manipulating photos and turning them into "art"... if you could call it that

A lot of Art Societies now have a prize section in exhibitions for computer generated art .

I was not too bad with folk art painting till the eyes went bad. Fixed them up, now the hands and fingers are bad..
I will stick to cameras...

Your family is like mine Gwen, within our extended family on my mothers side, the artistic streak goes back four generations that we know of.This artistic tendency seems to be passed on to nearly all of my relations, there is one aunty thats not and nor is any of her childen.

Sorry Simon - January and early February is a difficult time here as the heat is soooooo intense and I have so many plants to try and care for. I never managed to get all the beds mulched by summer although I am still trying to finish them and once I do it will be easier as I will just keep adding more hay and straw and newspaper to the existing. Even now it is easier as there are that much less weeds as I have a lot covered in mulch and so less seed heads. January and early Feb is all about surviving. My guests don't see it that way as they spend all day in the pool and cabana which are lovely and catch the breeze but I cannot invade their privacy so I jsut spend my time trying to cope as best I can with the heat and the plants needing water. Next summer should be easier if it is all mulched. I am learning how to survive on this property that I love.
I might add the great survivors without watering were the rugosas up the driveway - boy they are tough!!!
Autumn is the most beautiful time in this valley and I love it when autumn arrives.
