This ones a Sydney Blue Gum planted about 1860, its about 200m up the road from where i grew up,even when i was a kid it was a large tree, this tree and the next one down both have a presevervation order on them

I dont know what this variety of tree is,but its a beautiful tree when the sun is setting and the colours of the trunk really stand out.

Beautiful trees. You don't see many that size around anymore I too love trunks and the diffent colours and textures of them

Gail its shame that they have removed so many larger trees your way,its great that in NZ that trees like these cant, they have to be proven to be in a dangerous condition before anyone aloud to chop them down.

Many of the big old ones were removed many years ago for timber... this is before thought was given to conservation. These days, the councils either go one way or the other and refuse to cut down even the dangerous trees or worry about being sued and remove them whether they are dangerous or not

Stupid Councils is right Brisbane is the worst, here in Logan they will let you cut down trees, our used to be councilor would come and chat to us if he though any were dangerous especially the Y shaped ones.

And that's the way it should be, keep the good ones and get rid of the bad ones
