My basic weeding rule: if they grow in rows they're flowers; if they don't they're weeds.

Mary-Anne, that is the same watermelon that Danni is holding, just cut up. It is a Champagne watermelon - they are a yellowish colour inside. We've been growing them for several years now since we were given some seeds from the garden club at the school. They taste much the same as the pink/red ones... actually I think the taste is slightly better... but that could be because they are home grown The texture is also slightly denser I think. We all love them

Thanks Gail I will keep that in mind.. What I was after was a smaller sized one where one person can eat it in 4-6 days.

Another nice one today - it was 6.4kg before the kids got stuck into it

That's not too bad a price, usually in the shops around 50c to $1 kg in season up to $2-$3kg early or late in the season. Get them cheaper at roadside stalls and the markets though.
That was a nice melon. Mary-Anne, you'd have to live very close to grab a piece of this one... it didn't take long to be demolished
