I haven't got much going in the garden at the moment. The watermelons are doing well - this big one, easily 5 or 6kgs, is just about ready to pick soon - the kids ask me everyday if it is ready yet. There are a few others but nowhere near as big and still a while to being ready

The honeydew is getting bigger too, the biggest I've ever grown but the only one on the vine It has grown outside the fence so I hope nothing gets to it

They all look good Gail..
I have never seen a Honeydew with green skin before are they a new variety or is that the colour they are before they ripen..

Having never grown them only bought from the shops and they have been a creamy or would that be pale yellow coloured skin with green inside I love them..

Mary-Anne, it will change colour to a creamy/slight greenish colour

Pitta, the kids say "is it ready yet?" in the same tone as they say "Are we there yet?" I keep threatening them that I will eat it all and they won't get any if they keep saying that in that tone!!

You have nice melons Gail

You're both as bad as Ian... that's the sort of think I have to put up with all the time!

The watermelon definitely passed the taste test We picked the big watermelon on Friday and had demolished it by Saturday - it was a struggle but I made it last two days. It weighed in at 8.6kgs. Turned out to be a sweet and juicy Champagne melon - the kids had fun mixing the seeds up when they helped plant them so there are 3 different types of melons mixed together in the garden and the only ones I can tell apart are the Moon and Stars vines though the champagne vine (now I know what it is) is doing the best of the lot.
