I came across this pretty flower close to my crested birds nest. It's only a little plant, stands about 10cm high, the flower is no more than a cm across. As it is such a pretty flower, it probably means it is a weed

The bottom two leaves closest to the ground are rounder but the others are longer and thinner.

Sorry, not really the best of pictures I'll take some better ones later if needed. I shoud've been a contortionist trying to stretch over, bend right down, hold the other plants out of the road, take the photo one-handed while trying to stop the camera getting wet from a light shower of rain

That's a coincidence I haven't had a chance to look yet and got to pick kids up from the bus stop in a few minutes so will have to wait for later.

Pitta, which post did you put it on? I remember you mentioning it but can't remember where

Surely its only a weed if its growing where you dont want it to, anything can be a weed by that definition..... too pretty to be a weed

That's where it was, thanks Gwen. I'll start looking for it shortly.

As long as it isn't weedy it can stay.

I actually have a pretty plant that came up by itself and isn't a weed so can stay

I suspect it came with the crested birds nest as it has come up in the root ball area. We haven't had the plant long, only a couple of months.
