Yeah the range is about right Richard, I guess the big difference for us would be the summer average which would be alot lower and the winter average which would be alot higher, so our average range would be much narrower. Its amazing how moderating being by the see it, in summer we are about 3c lower than the city and in winter about 2-3c warmer. Often if it snows we dont get it here, but we can see where it starts.

A good year is when more things get harvested than die!

While havesting my red onions seed i came across these,number(3)is normal when the onion divides into sections each with its own flower stem.(2)divided into 8 sections with only had one with a flower stem.(3)had no seed stems at all.

This one had no seed stem as well, but these onion are much larger than all the others,I have replanted the biggest of these nonflowering onions to see what they happens over the next year.
Stay tuned

Rudies - great word I havn't heard that since my crazy mother used to tell the dog off for licking himself stiff and then fulfilled LOL - she used to kind of sing it in a high pitched voice followed by a funny maching gun noise, should have just got him neutered !

I dont think it matters, even though i grow mine in cell trays it just as easy to sow direct, you just end up using more seed that way.
Even though Cheryl you would be able to sow them now and be ok through winter, its the spring sown and left growing through the following winter is what i`m interested in,seeing how they perform.

okay cheryl.
i'm back now.

LOL.

do you still have my address richard?
shall i wait to plant these in the spring?...or maybe i should do a bit of both since it's the winter weather over my way that is favourable to onions. but then again, do these bulb on lengthening days, or shortening days?
did i already ask?
