Ive been selecting those onions now for the last 10 years for ones that don't lose there tops and remain growing through to the following season. The idea behind this so anyone growing this onion can pick it and use it for its green top as well as the onion at any time over a 9 month period.I think maybe two or three more generations i should have a stable line that i will rename Medbury Red

They look fantastic, I have enjoyed my red onions this year, even though my crop was experimental, my first time so didnt plant anywhere near enough, but I will next year. I planted something called red demon in the ground in winter and also did a handful insided in jiffy pots in Oct, they are coming ready at the same time, so not sure which was the best bet there.

chocolate????

i was just checking to see if you folks were paying attention. not on chocolate...but i might have to try that now that i've mentioned it. chocolate goes pretty good with EVERYTHING, right?
red onion marmalade. slice up the onions and toss them in a pot with a minute amount of water. throw on a liberal amount of sugar. cook til the onions are tender and the sugar is carmelizing. finish it off with a splash of red wine vinegar, or similar. serve as a garnish.
i don't have a recipe written in that i can give you exact amounts. it all changes according to the size of the onion. just let yourself *feel* the recipe. you'll figure it out. YUMMO.
