I was just about to get into bed.Faye went to switch on the air.con when she noticed a snake on top of the air con.
Faye brought me back to the lounge to wait while she tries to get it.
After 10 mins she has not caught it,thinks its got inside the air con through the vents..I M off to bed again, the snake will sort out where it wants to sleep.Don't know how they get in as we are fully screened. Will report back tomorrow .Pitta.

Hopefully it was just a python... probably get a bit cold in the air con for it... just hope it doesn't decide to join you in a warm bed

I dont mind snakes out in the garden that's their home...
Would not want one in the bedroom though even if it was a python.
We had a big frog blow up our BR A/C in Townsville it got through the vent too.
Tony ended up encasing it on the outside with insect screen wire.

What no photo..

P.S. I hope you had a good nights sleep...

Well I survived the night ,no Python joined me in the warm bed, no sign of it this morning. Its either still in the air,con or its still in the house somewhere. Our air,con is the split system ,the only thing that comes into the house in a thin pipe which connects to the unit inside. Its a good system ,all the noise stays outside..I will await fuether developments Pitta.

That's good to hear Gwen..

Split/System only way to go with A/C we have one in the Lounge Room it has not been on for about three years.. I know I should turn it on occasionally (to keep it working) but it has not been hot enough for many years.

Build your house right with flow through breezes down here and you dont need any A/C

Having said that I do turn the heater part on sometimes in the Winter when its cold but not cold enough to light the slow-combustion heater..

What sort of snake would it likely be Gwen?

I don't think the world can afford the environmental expense of air conditioners. My home had two ducted systems when I bought it, one for the business and one that I never turn on except in winter, like Mary Anne and now with my wood fire, I may never turn it on again. We had several days that were 42 in the shade in the last week but there is no way I could solve that by turning on an AC. The chooks were panting and the fans were going and all the windows open ... But I guess there is always a back up for illness or some major reason to use such a lazy way of getting oneself a trifle cooler.

Pamela, Most likely a small python, it had patterns on its skin .It flipped backwards and out of sight so quickly. Will just have to wait until it gets hungry and comes looking for a meal. We have plenty of Gecko's it could live on.

About air cons,I could not survive at times without it ,especially when the humidity reaches the high 90's .I don't mind the heat at all .If I could go out and get under a hose when needed I would not have the air con on at all.Pitta.

Yes you certainly need A/C in the BR up in the Tropics Gwen otherwise you would never get any sleep. Been there and done that too.

I have never been further north than Noosa so I would not know what it is like. Here I think the humidity is much lower but the heat is intense and on days like that, it is impossible to do anything, even inside, except just hang on and pant like the chooks.

Ive never wanted refrigerated A/C even though we got up to 45C one summer and have already had it over 40 this Summer. Too hard on you if you need to be in and out of the house, like stepping out of the fridge and into the oven. LOL. I do use evaporative coolers though to keep us and the dogs cool, and I shut the house down the minute the cool morning air is gone. When "Lassie come home" is played out and my Callum (sheltie) is returned to me this morning, he is in for a treat, he was an outside dog in his present home. Picking him up in half an hour.

Gwen, now way could I sleep in a house with a snake in it! Brave lady.

I have an aircon it the wall in the lounge, lucky if I turn it on twice a year

I don't like AC, don't want to own one, and love the heat but will admit that up in th tropics it is nearly essential especially if you want a decent night's sleep. Even if the temp was only 30C, the humidity makes it feel like 45C... the nights aren't much better. We aren't anywhere near as bad as that here but what we do have can be uncomfortable.

I hope Charlie finds its way back out soon otherwise both of you are going to be wondering about accidentally stepping on it or picking it up, even if it is only a python it can still have a nasty bite and at the least give you a fright.
