Everytime we go to Maroochy Botanic Gardens I have admired this plant but this is the first time I have seen it flower. All the plants at the gardens are endemic to that area. Does anyone know what it is as I would love to get one? It is a low growing or mounding ground cover type, the leaves are between 5cm and 8cm long, and the flower a couple of cm across.

I grew that common name Tahitian Bridal Veil in a hanging basket in Melbourne it had small white flowers but was more like a creeper, would that be the one Cheryl if so I have never seen it up here, not saying its not here though.

The only Bridal Veil I know is classed as a weed in Qld. It has a similar shaped leaf but only about 1cm long and has a tiny white flower. The leaves on this are up to 8cm long and the flower a couple of cms across.

Mary-Anne, I didn't see your post. I've seen bridal veil here plenty of times though not as much in recent years. I knew the bloke who actually introduced it into Oz I didn't meet him until in the 1990s and he was wishing that he never introduced it. He owned a nursery north of Brisbane and used to travel overseas looking for new plants. I'm glad they are stricter with their imports now.

Just wish my body thought it was still in the 70's
I don't know when it actually was introduced but I know it was a weed by the 90's. My mother had a large one and I had a small pot started from hers but I can't remember what happened to it... that was before the 90's
