In Cooktown they are called Golden Ringers,I call them a darn pest as they build with our red oxide mud ,leaving stains when you remove them from the walls.Pitta

We have similar wasps here but the soil is easy to high pressure blast their nests away

We have a few similar ones too and their nests leave marks which are hard to remove so I can imagine what red soil nests would be like. Great pics
