Ota we have had to buy tomatoes only twice in about 12 months and that was a few weeks back when we got that rain as they were splitting and the fruit fly was getting in. Even in the Winter they ripened here ok at the moment we have oval and round volunteers growing but only the round ones up in the house but I have no idea what tomatoes they are some of the plants are so old they could be seeds from shop bought maybe this time last year..

This is all I had in the fridge the ones on the right are a bit blotchy.
With yellow markings on them but Tony said they taste ok..
Could be caused by three cold nights in a row here 14 deg last night 31 today.

mary-anne...the blotchy ones have tomato spotted wilt virus.
it doesn't affect the taste...but the plant, i imagine, is feeling unwell.
still...you're doing well not having had to buy many tomatoes in the past 12 months.

Thanks for the ID on those blotchy ones Tessa I have told Tony the plant had some kind of wilt, yes some of the plants look disgusting all brown and dried up I have pulled a couple out recently, thankfully they are not in the veggie beds they just pop up all over the garden most have come up where I have dug holes to plant new Frangipani earlier this year and added some compost to the holes....

I am surprised Tony just said he will pull them all out...
