Top pics Mary-Anne

Some of my broms are grown in full sun *The Big Ones*. The smaller ones with colours in the centre are on the ground some are way to big for trees.. I don't grow any on trees the med and small ones will be fine there..

Epiphyllum, that big one in the pic grows in a pot on a pedestal and gets early morning sun and dappled shade for the rest of the morning to full shade after mid-day, but all my others grow in the shade they have better looking leaves, yes you can grow them on trees but keep out of direct sunlight mine are grown in hanging baskets hooked on to the branches of one of our Calliandra trees so in full shade all the time..

Others may do different..

Oi stop teasing me you

My basic weeding rule: if they grow in rows they're flowers;
if they don't they're weeds.

Pitta, you shouldn't have a problem growing them on trees up your way - the smaller varieties. Down here they often need more watering. Just do a google search for bromeliads+trees and you will find quite a bit of info on it, same with the epiphyllums.
