Being new to this forum I just wanted to say hello to all you green thumbs. I am rather hopeless in the garden. Every time I venture into our garden I seem to get attacked by some toxic insect or plant! Still I am persisting and trying to keep the garden alive and attractive. I am learning new plant names, what needs extra care and what plants are tough and hardy. I even ordered and planted some new plants over a year ago - about a dozen and five lived and are still thriving! Not bad for me. My mum has also joined this forum today as "Pitta" and she is the garden expert. I share home and life with mum now having moved here to be a carer after her stroke in 1999. She can no longer garden due to the paralysis on her right side but is as alert and quick witted as ever and inspects the garden on her electric scooter. I will drop in now and again to see if I can learn anything on gardening in far north Queensland and will get to know you all.

Welcome, nice to 'meet' you

Hi from me as well, it is a great place to learn here, spec. as we have lots of QLDers
My basic weeding rule: if they grow in rows they're flowers; if they don't they're weeds.

Hi to everyone who has so far posted a welcome. Mum and I checked out quiet a few garden forums before deciding on this one. The main reason for thinking this would be a good forum was the fact that we have queensland members and also not so overcrowded as some AND the lovely and quick email reply from Tessa when we had problems initially. Thanks to you all and I hope to be able to share some pictures of our garden (mum's work really!) once I learn how to add photos. Faye
