WooHoo
My hippy is looking good!

This is the first time that I have tried to grow this type of plant.

This plant has a sad history!
Last year the terracotta pot it was in broke.I gathered up the remainder and placed the lot into a larger container. You can see the remains of the first pot in the photo.

Then about a year later the leaves died down and I thought it went to heaven but I held on hoping for the best!
A few months ago ,I see new leaves and and couple of weeks ago ,tripped over it.
The pot went sideways !
So I got up and set it right gave it some water,.
Now a week later I see this!!

I am thinking it is the flower stalk!!
The variety is called Apple Summertime or something like that .I can see pink stripes in the bud underneath!!

It must be a tough plant to flower after all that!!

Cheers Michelle

Michelle I had hippies planted along my driveway before the builders started. Demolition guys with large plant equipment and trucks did not damage but builders fixed it. The had trucks running all over my garden and turned on the hippies. Ripped some in two. Most were sheared off at bulb. I rescued them and now they are growing nicely in other parts of the yard. Fairly hardy!

Congratulations Mum

They would have to be one of the toughest bulbs and thrive on neglect... mine are proof of that Don't forget to post a pic of the flower when it opens.

Mine only 2 have finished already

if they don't they're weeds.

Thats a wonderful hippy!'
Would that be Summertime or Apple Blossom?

I am growing Apple Blossom ...if it looks half as good as yours I will be over the moon.
