well, for once I have achieved some success with a clematis.
I have killed about three in the process but I think I may have the knack now.
This plant is in its second year.....and still going strong( much to my surprise!!)after being moved after its first year.
I will have to arrange something to cover the pot to screen it from the sun.
and a close up of the flower:

Beautiful Michelle. I've always liked clematis but don't think it is even worthwhile trying here so I admire other peoples

Fantastic Michelle such a pretty colour too.
I used to one grow of those big mauve/pink with the burgundy stripes when I lived in Melbourne, How I wish I could grow them here that's one plant I love, I bought one of the Native ones even that did not survive most likely too hot..
Looking forward to its next lot of photo's Michelle.

I had a look at it today and have tidied it up a bit.
Its looking really good!
At last I seem to have got the knack!!

Do you have any of the white ones Michelle.
I love the cooling effects of white flowers here after all everywhere you look in my garden there are so many hot colours, red, orange and bright pinks at the moment, so you can imagine my delight to see my big white Hippeastrum's second stems buds burst into bloom and the white Aggapanthus and Iceberg.. So different..

White is a beautiful ,calming colour.
It would be superb to have a white one as well.....looks like I will have investigate that!!
It would be a good contrast to the other colours.
For once I have invested in white roses.I have Delbards Grand Nord and DA's Winchester Cathedral.
They are looking good ,not fully flowering yet but heaps of buds.

I had a look at pics of both of those on line Michelle I must say that Delbards Grand Nord is gorgeous love that creamy centre.. I will be looking forward to seeing pics of those two when they flower..

I've got a new clematis too :) I'm trying to learn the art of making a mixed perenial bed with roses so when I saw this one I thought that's a different twist to a traditional combination (i.e climbing clematis and climbing roses)... this is a ground cover clematis (Clematis petriei x marmoraria 'Perfection') that doesn't climb... hoping it will grow around the rose 'legs' and make a living mulch.
