I wish the weeds would stop, everyday now I am out pulling them up, I cannot spray them as we seem to be the lucky ones getting a few showers every day here but I did manage to get out early this morning and do that..
Coming back in exhausted and wet from the humidity yesterday, I decided to spend some of Kev's Bonus so I rang up the Sugar Cane Farm where we usually go down with the trailer and pick up a round bale a few times a year.. Of course everything has gone up since June when we bought the last three bales, but the time taken to go down to get one bale plus the petrol is not cheap either so they were delivered around 5pm yesterday..
Two were dumped on the grass.
One on the driveway in front of my new DA Roses..

And the other one on the other side under a tree..

Leaning on the truck Joy said to me Oh I like your path and the roses on that arch.. They are nearly finished now I said, but that made me feel good about the path..

This cutting I grew of the Hibiscus Cuban Variety is finally taking off.

Yes things are growing very well in the garden especially the weeds..

The path has lost that new look and blends in nicely now The garden is looking real good now too.
My back is starting to ache just thinking about spreading those bales. I particularly don't like sprading them in hot weather as the dust sticks to you when you are sweaty so I'm glad I'm not doing it Must get another half a dozen bales ourself soon though as there is starting to get a few bare patches where the mulch is thin.

I am soooooooo jealous MA. I'd love a large bale of sugar cane mulch. Lucky you!! Arch and path look terrific.

I turned the computer off pulled out the plug disconnected the phone to it and went and had some dinner. The noise was unreal lightning and thunder for a long time dont think we got much rain its getting lighter I will go down later and read the gauge..
Would you believe yesterday morning when I took those pics it was foggy no fog today..
Thanks girls yes that arch does look good from the gate its a shame the roses only last about 2-3 weeks but they look fantastic while they do. The back is bad its a terrible job laying the mulch the first bale I opened had a sickly sweet smell and Gail isn't the dust terrible I worked from 4-6 pm when it was cooler I only managed to lay it on thick under the roses and the Gerbera bed, then went and had a long bath as I was covered in dust that had stuck to me with all the sweat as you say.
Rest day today well till I see how I feel later

I understand the dilemma Mary-Anne. I have a number of square bales here to lay - need to replace the stuff washed away by the storm early December.

I have only been out there for about a hour Daniel trying to pull up these strappy like weeds among the day lilies, gosh they are getting thicker plenty here for you when you come over Tony is helping today to lay that mulch, but it is draining me.. I think I did too much yesterday Plus the humidity from that 23mm of rain last night is not helping either..
Just filled up half the wheelie bin with rain-lily bulbs do you want any of them not to worry the clumps I have here will multiply with the rain we are getting if you do..

I will go out again in a while Cheryl just come in for a drink I forgot to take the bottles out of the freezer last night so they are solid The soil is lovely and wet now after that rain last night so its a good time to lay it..
I put 30 cm thick on these and the rain has flattened it a lot. Blown it around a bit too

Seduction always puts on a good show Cheryl when we have rain remember a couple of months ago I was moaning as I thought the roses were dieing, rain is the life blood of them up here.. I think Gold Bunny middle front has just about had it, that red is La Sevillana after I moved it from where it was planted it started to come on really well in that bed.
