What a relief too as the weather has been the worst for doing that kind of work with the soil so wet the humidity has been so high, we have been plagued by mozzies and those horrible big horse flies have they got a bite any way its done now..
Yesterday Tony made so many barrow of mix up for the edges on both sides. Good job he did on it too...

I waited till this afternoon when it was cooler and shady Then I got a half barrow of sand and filled up all the spaces. That took forever as there were plenty of them due to different size pavers.
It looks a bit wonky but it will do I put some soil against the edges. Then I spread the mulch back hoping it would look like it used too.
This is the front where Crepuscule on the arch lives..

And while Tony was cleaning up all the left over soil for me.. Maggie came around to have a fee feed...

This is the Maggie I mentioned who has the bent foot. If you look at the pic below you will see its bent the wrong way Oh it is a bit slow but it manages to look after itself And we help out when we see it..

This is the other end near the back steps..

I think the Queen Elizabeth Rose will like it there as she will get more water.

Tony is going to do the path on the other side of the house when its cooler he said..
And that sure makes sense to me....

MA & Tony, A job well done, it looks fine. The bird with the bent foot, we get the same with bush turkey. A wild life carer who called here one day to collect an injured bird says. These claws are dead, no blood circulation,a lot of these birds survive ok.Pitta .

Great job Mary-Anne and Tony You did pick the worst couple of weeks to do it in, the last two days have been more pleasant - typical, beautiful summer days with low humidity... just wish we could get some rain as quite a few plants are starting to wilt.
Deformities in magpies feet like that are often caused by the parents being fed too much bread instead of meat then feeding it to the babies.

Gail Thanks for that info... I would not be surprised I have told the neighbours across the road, not to feed any of the birds bread, but they still do especially the 30+ year old daughter she feeds it anything, she came over one day recently asking if I had seen her maggie I told her it spends a lot of time here now, she was quite releived at that.

Never too old Mary Anne. There will be a story about a lady that could be your grandmother coming out in a certain high profile gardening magazine in May - she does lots of gardening still and maybe not laying paths in teh last year or two but she will be 100 in a few months and is a very active gardener. Use it or lose it as they say. I congratulate you for doing this wonderful job.

I love gardening and doing these type of jobs Pamela, if the body keeps on screaming there is a limit and I have reached mine lately with this paving though I am still weeding, pruning mostly up on a ladder these days and mowing.. I am very active in the garden but tend to take longer lunch breaks in this weather

I finally got around to measuring that path yesterday as I was curious as to how long it was and how many pavers were used, Its length is 22.900 mts just a tad over 75 ft and it looks a bit like the yellow brick road too..
Not being very good at Maths (but a wiz at adding up money with my brain) I have been here with the stupid calculator trying to work it out, so in the end Tony said I will go down and count the outside row and multiply it by five, no no I said I will work it out muttering to myself it could not be too hard.
Still had not worked it out when he came back up with a grin on his face ok I said how many it has to be around 500, you are close he said I will tell you..
No I will work it out myself, then looking at the calculator I realised my mistake here was me trying to divide the length of the brick cms into the length of the path metres silly me..
The calculator's total was 497.. Tony's total was 495.. Nothing wrong with his brain either..
I wonder how much they charge for laying 500 pavers
