Sorry I haven't been posting much lately, I am so busy this time of year with a couple of big jobs that have to be finished, shopping to be done, xmas day organised, etc... and the kids are home on holidays. I have hardly even been outside in the garden and I don't think I have even taken a photo for the last couple of weeks. I will still be checking in most days but just not posting much. I will be glad when Xmas and the New Year are over and things settle back to normal... if there is even a normal anymore.

I am in the same boat. I check in regularly but I have no time to do anything much. Lots of business as well as lots to do in the garden - non stop.
I must however take some pics of your pink day lilies Mary Anne - they are so lovely and a guest commented on their beauty the other day.

It is that time of year again I think I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms from the garden... I keep getting the urge to go out and play in the dirt Now I shouldn't be here, I sat down to do some work but thought I'd check in first

I feel for all you folk who are rushing about with Christmas things. I have done all that in the past ,husband, 4 children ,friends, relatives etc. Years ago I decided to opt out of all that ,even the big xmas dinners . Now there is only Faye & I ,unless family decide on a visit. Presents now are only for the little ones, and we get those gifts all through the year . Gifts are sent off well before xmas ,leaving no stress later. Food wise we have normal fare , nothing rich to upset the digestion. So for us its a nice quiet Christmes. Pitta. . .

Sounds good Pitta. A few years ago when the kids were small, we put our foot down as both Ian's side and my side were always saying it was our turn to go to such and such's place as we went somewhere else last year - with 3 brothers and sisters on my side and Ian's parents and sister on the other side we couldn't please everyone, someone would always be upset with us, and it usually involved spending several hours in the car travelling back and forwards. Even the kids were starting to dread Christmas Day so we said that in future we were spending Chrissy Day at home, anyone was welcome to come over but we weren't going anywhere. Every third Xmas with the inlaws is now at our place, the other two years we spend Boxing Day with them. As my side of the family lives 2 or more hours away, we get together one day between Xmas and New Year at a place half way between all our places. It is now so much more relaxing on Xmas Day - meals are simple - generally bbq, salad, pavlova and home-made ice-cream (though often something different than usual cooked on the bbq) and the kids have started a tradition of having water bomb fights on Xmas Day too so we also keep cool both before and after the backyard cricket game
