What a fantastic idea Gwen using Bamboo canes, is it your bamboo..
Ours comes in handy too for all kinds of things also.

Love the colour of the Mandevilla it will fly away now in this wet season

Looks great I like the bamboo... careful it doesn't take root

What is that pretty looking shrub with the red flowers (the bigger one) to the left in the 2nd picture

Gail ,the plant you asked about is
Carphelia kirondron.Faily Rubiaceae. common names ,Flaming Beauty or
Giant Pentas. likes full sun as is drought tolerant. grows 1.5 to 3 meters. Flowers for months and needs hard pruning after flowering.

I know that one We have one... it is supposed to be one anyway... about 5 or 6 years old and a little smaller than yours, a bit less tham a metre, but it has never flowered yet... it is drought tolerant though as ours is in an area where the hose doesn't reach. I hope mine eventually flowers like yours... it is beautiful.
