Another oldie but goodie... I would grow this one for its foliage alone.

That is absolutely stunning..I love the purple tipped petals and the bud is lovely in it's own right. Top shot, Simon.

Tell us about the foliage Simon. It is lovely.

I'll take some good foliage shots when it stops raining to show what I mean. The foliage is kind of bluey/green, very matt, quilted and look all soft and padded. I find it really appealing. Leda is a once flowering rose and mine are growing on their own roots. It was given to me by a friend down in Huon Valley (TAS) where she has a large plant also growing on its own roots. The own-root plants produce many suckers so the effect is that given room they will form a nicely rounded mound. There is a great big one on HMF that looks beautiful... but huge! The foliage is also blackspot free (here), though when I got the suckers and had them in pots they mildewed quite badly. Now they are in the main garden I don't think they will mildew as much as they are in full sun with much better air circulation.

Thanks Simon - I love the lime green colour. I will look out for this rose to plant next autumn. There's a place near me that can get most things (Roses & Friends in Fitzroy Falls).

Yes I agree that is very pretty and the foliage worth looking at too. I would call that a perfect package rose.

Yes... those leaves are fairly young leaves... the middle photo is getting older where they are tending to a bluey/green.
