I am interested in finding out what I can plant to add colour to my garden for the month of April...thought some of you clever gardeners would be able to suggest a few things incidentally is there a section here at GD that shows what flowers & when???...maybe I need to stop being lazy & check some of my old gardening mags!!

Thanks Gail will check out the links...I did think that I should just check my photos saved on my computer as I generally create a folder for each month...sadly I realised that I was without a decent camera in April of last year...hence no photos.

how about if we created our own calendar here? let's start in october and take pics of what's flowering in our gardens. at the end of the month...we lock the thread and move onto the next month. i can create a special forum for it. what do you think?

Excellent idea Tessa

| A top idea, Tessa. It will be interesting to see what is in flower in the various climate areas. |

Tessa I think that would be great...as I said earlier I often look at pics saved on my computer (saved in a folder for each month) & that has been very handy (unless of course your camera ceases to function)..but yes think your suggestion would make a good reference point for gardeners.

I have been looking in my external hard drive Patricia and in my folders April 06, 07, 08 I find that the things that are starting to flower now were also flowering in April, and that makes sense as they would be nearing the end of their flowering season in the Autumn.
I know your climate down there in NSW is a little different to Brisbane, though in most places you can grow daylilies, gerbera, dahlia, roses, hibiscus, salvia, nasturtiums, penstemon, azalea and they all flower in April or Autumn there is also geranium they seem to be always in flower..
If its warmer frangipani, allamanda, bougainvillea flower then also..
It may help you a little.

okay folks...go at it! (starting at midnight, now...LOL) it's down the bottom of the list because the list will grow by one forum each month...and with it down the bottom...the other forums won't get further and further away from us. |
