What a lovely time of the year this is..
I love Spring I bet you all do too.
Its now time to and get out and enjoy the sunshine.
There is nest building everywhere and plenty of flying around..
Plenty of these annoying insects too..
I love and with so many in the garden I am so lucky..
Now to all our The Brissie ones..
I just heard on the News it has been the driest August since 2002. And the coldest Winter since 2000.. Well I think it was the longest. So here is one Banana Bender who is looking forward to the warmer days.
But not too hot please...

And a happy spring to you Mary-Anne and everyone else here. The days are even starting to feel a little like spring... and we had 4mm rain overnight so a good start to spring
I know what you mean by a dry August we had a whole 4.5mm in the first week and nothing since. June and July weren't particularly cold but August has been colder than usual so I'm very happy to see things starting to warm up
Now I just need to find the time to get outside more though we spent a beautiful last day of winter yesterday planting 37 plants in the garden... but I had to dig most of the holes as Ian was busy
That was a big job Cheryl but worth it, your place looks beautiful, so neat and tidy. I don't know how you find the time to look after all those pots though.

Thanks Cheryl I was going to write this message early this morning but got stuck into the house work early, I moved all the big baskets of firewood and kindling out on the back decking so Tony could put everything down the wood-house, we wont be needing those again till the last week in May next year. Your outside looks very fresh and clean ours is so gritty and dusty need a bit more rain to wash it away..
Thank you Gail, I forgot to mention we got 4mm very late last night also, actually it stopped raining as I was going to bed around 1am so it was good to get up this morning and see the garden looking a little fresher after so long, the wood work on the house could do with a good clean again though..
We have been busy helping out some of the elderly neighbours lately, so this week its back to pruning for me I still have a few more bougs to do that white cascade is still in flower but looking more cream than white now.. Best I get moving then...

Nice to get such lovely spring greetings but of course spring is not here for another 20 days :-)) But today here WAS just like spring - a perfect day and I had such a happy time. Got one veggie garden all ready for planting and planted yet more roses and spent lots of time smooching with my horses. My arena is slowly turning a little green. We have had a lot of rain in August and it is still too boggy to drive over my lawn with the ride on. But the sun today is starting to dry things out.
Your place looks so pretty Thee. Like Gail I could not manage all those pots as I am a bit forgetful and all it would take one really hot day is to miss watering and I would lose them but maybe your climate is not as harsh as here.

Well to me Queenslands Spring started last week when the cold blew away and the warmer northerly breezes blew in, we in this house do not go by calenders official to the Northern Hemisphere or not..
Sorry if I tend to be different but that's me, if we waited till the 21 of September it would almost be Summer weather here..
BTW being a Aussie born I go by what I was taught and I see things have not changed here.

You know the saying in Rome do as the Romans do.
And if you are going to wait till the 21st of September to celebrate Spring.
Well you have missed the boat...

Not many of the pots are in full sun, in shaded or under cover areas which is great for those days we get in the high 30's , I have a routine after work, nice with hose in hand and chardy in the other

it's the planet rome, mary-anne the seasons come about as a function of the sun and planet positions...not the man-made calendar. it's not a north american thing. it's a universe thing.

Yes - that is why the www is great but unlike some publishing, it is not scrutinised or refereed at all so anyone can write whatever they want. Tessa is correct. But I know we start thinking about spring on the month with the equinox equivalents, whatever they are called.

Universal or not Girls, here in Australia we have always celebrated the start of Spring on the 1st of September..
And if you want to celebrate it later in the month well go ahead but to me the start of Spring has gone.

We have always started the seasons at the first of the month, as Mary-Anne says by the time the equinox is here the weather is really starting to warm up. Most years here (except this year ) it is spring-like by mid-August. Besides the whole calendar is out if you want to go by sun, moon, planets, etc - every year it changes by a few seconds or minutes or whatever it is (I can't remember have to ask my son). It is just convenient to celebrate at the first of the month along with the rest of Oz. It doesn't matter anyway... just as long as winter goes... and the sooner the better for me
