Some of them might be old-fashioned but they never give up. If anyone is looking for a garden that hardly needs any attention, these plants are ideal. All they need is an occasional water if it doesn't rain and a very occasional haircut to tidy them up.

A petunia from last summer

Two pelargoniums (or geraniums as they used to be known)

Nasturtium with a visitor

Kalanchoe

Gazania

Dietes bicolour

Begonia that comes up by itself

Purple african daisy

Gerbera that Mary-Anne sent me - first flower

I love a lot of the oldies as well :)

My basic weeding rule: if they grow in rows they're flowers;
if they don't they're weeds.

Lovely Gail, so that's where the nasturtium is hiding.
Thats a single beige Gerbera, humm I thought I sent you doubles.
I will blame the birds they were all around me that day..

Me too Cheryl but I gave up on the Petunia, to me its a water guzzler.

The pic doesn't show the colour of the gerbera well, it is more a lemony colour though the edges are nearly a peachy colour.

It's funny but I've found the petunias good in drier areas, this one doesn't get a lot of water. That is why I stick with petunias and the red salvias for annual colour, both like it hot and dry.
