Hi Folks,
This morning on 4BC gardening program Colin Campbell answered a question regarding Gramma Pumpkin. I found a picture and forum discussion elsewhere - they are like a butternut, but bigger. Anybody had any success with these? Have you eaten them? Worth growing?

My mother used to make gramma pie. I can't remember much about them but I think they are fairly easy to grow, similar to pumpkin but I don't think they are great eating by themselves - good in pies, jams, etc. I might be wrong though, the others might know more.

Callers this morning mentioned the pie. One older fella thought they were OK eating as a vege but were "Angel food" as a pie. Sounds worth a try. CC recommended an organic site for acquiring seeds but not found it yet.

I have never heard of them so no help really.
Any pumpkin grows here we harvested close to fifty of them and did not plant one seed..

As you know Mary-Anne - I reckon that your consistent success is largely because you and Tony do so much hard work in the garden, and elsewhere. You have developed good soil and you are faithful in caring for them (and us). I think you are both awesome!

And you and Tony both do a great job!
Which reminds me...has anybody scooped up that excellent bird aviary Tony made? I reckon if anybody is looking for a good cage that is a great one...well worth an investment. We saw a metal one today that was no where as creative and was about $350. I reckon Tony should sell it at the markets??? Unless you can advertise it on a forum.
