Although it's not an Oz native, it IS a NZ native, so I thought I'd post it in here. I planted mine out about 6-7 years ago when it was about two feet tall. It grew pretty fast then slowed up. I've read it doesn't get very big. It doesn't look like it will. At least I hope not because I've got it in a spot right next to the path down the side of the house. On top of that, right next to it I planted a Metrosideros kermadecensis...just a little further up and next to the fence and property line. The M. kermadedensis is only about four feet right now. It will have the redder blooms, while the M. villosus has the more orange blooms.

They are quite a sight in full bloom. You see so many metrosiderous in Oz that I'm sure some people nearly consider them a native.

Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing not to use it in a fruit salad.
