I have been checking the tomato plants every morning for the past week because as soon at the moths come then its the caterpillars every day its the same now like this. There is still one of yours there Gail so I will pick it and let it ripen inside.

All the Named ones are covered in these little blighter's every morning so we have decided to pull them all out this weekend, though we will leave the volunteers in over on the boundary fence under the climbing roses they seem to be doing ok for now that is, and we will start again next February or March

Try that stuff Tessa suggests Sunny. It's a shame you can't grow them over summer. I get a few grubs but not that many. This is usually the best time of year for me for tommies.

Then after I have got rid of those caterpillars the Fruit fly gets them. When the rains come they all split. On the continues days over 35 degrees those tomatoes cook in their skins. These plants need shade on the hot days they have none as the beds are in full sun. With the heavy dews all these sprayed liquids get washed off every night The humidity is bad and those plants get all those horrible diseases. I do not know anyone that grows tomatoes over the late Spring/Summer here. Unless it those little mini ones they grow ok but split terrible with the rain And the fruit fly adore them and after seven summers here of trying. Enough is enough..Girls.
I will stick to Spring Onions, Radish, Zucchini, Cukes, and the odd lettuce for now..

I have that 2 litre container of Garlic and Chili concoction I made last week I will try it on the caterpillars when they get on the Oleander, I hope they don't start in the lettuce as the second and third lot are coming along very nicely..
