I noticed there isn't any weeds around the tommies or corn
Any more luck with baby fishies? You should try some barramundi in tanks, they're good eating

Spot weeding thats my secret...until all the others set their seeds and send in the reinforcements.
The boys have been keen to try again but the female is swearing off with a headache as far as I can tell.
She normally has a lot more colour on her if she's interested. You can maybe see the lighter patches of scales under her ventral(?) line. This is where the fungus that attacked her was growing. |

He looks good there Pieface..What are the names of his mates
Isn't it funny I hated daylight saving when I lived in Melbourne as I am a morning person and loved getting up real early to potter in the garden I think its great here in the summer when its day light at 4am.
Oh yes and dont forget the lettuce I plant a half dozen or so seeds every few week so we never have to buy any now.. What no carrots or spring onions either.
Pieface is that Coriander on the left gone to see..

No such luck Tessa, maybe Santa will find room for a camera in his sack!
Sunny it's Italian Parsley that is off to the races that you can see. I really should get some lettuce in, thanks for the prod. I'll see what seeds I have on Saturday. Daylight savings is a funny one. Seems to divide people quite strongly for some reason. I don't mind either way really but I do enjoy the longer evenings.
Thanks for that Kito I would have been upset if I didn't draw comment with that line |

Looking good there Pieface. Which one do you reckon is the best grower so far?

Doh! I missed a couple and they are the best performing, in terms of vigor I think so far.
Toms Yellow Wonder:

and the brown...the dwarf isn't brown...I'm confused I think

All the plants are flowering now with the cannabec setting a few fruit. The dwarf is a bit hard to tell I think it is doing fine. The brandywine is probably the slowest going although it hasn't had any bug troubles. I'll take slow over bugs any day of the week! |

fantastic, pie. they're looking pretty good and are about the same size as mine. for me...the big striped, the happy brown, and the canabec are the best performers so far...tho ashleigh and john's big orange have already set fruit. pics later.
gail...there's a big problem with the green zebras. the problem is: they've all germinated, all thrived, all outperformend many of the other seedlings...and therefore there are still GZ's left over and looking for homes!!! i'll be planting out the surrogate yard this week....so i predict it will lean heavily towards green, stripey tomatoes.

I've had a similar problem Tessa. I get far more GZs than any other tomato and the plants are bigger and stronger. Luckily I quite like them

TeeHee! That was last weekend Tessa, they are all about 50% bigger now The heat is really pushing them along.
Can't say the same for Bij Jim though, he is going very slowly. How is yours doing? |

my big jims are big fizzers this year! dang!
okay...i don't think i gave you a dwarf. i gave you a brown indeterminate that originated from the dwarf project, but it is not a dwarf. if you save seeds...and end up finding a dwarf in there...presto-mago...you're *in* the dwarf project.
did i give you a stumpy? another one with rules?
your tom's yellow wonder is very robust looking. mine are not. mine (i have two) are both whispy but setting fruit.
i think you'll have the upperhand on me, pie, since i went away just before that heatwave and the kids suffered in my absence. but i think i remember you didn't get any tomatoes last year...so you look on track to shatter that record resoundingly!

Well I had a produce sharing arrangement with the grubs. They took everything they could eat and I had the scraps
I have a stumpy too. He is about half the size of the other plants. What were his rules again? |
