I`m fascinated that all your barrows have those steel wheels,i`ve never come across any of those myself. As for mine been a girlie barrow b`c its pink, well it was red.
I refuse to paint it though as i prefer that rustic look.

Yep bulbs would be good

Good idea with the wheel Richard... if it works, why not

I used to have an old barrow with the steel wheel, was my grandfathers, then my fathers, then mine until it was too far gone to do anything with it... even planting it up. It never had any rubber on the wheel as long as I can remember.

How in earth can you wheel that girlie barrow around Richard the jolly handles are too high..
Yep the only thing its any good for is a carnation container on wheels..

Thats where my Tony comes in handy, even carves the hardwood handles, and puts new bases under the bowl, its still got the metal frame though that's his barrow as its a little too heavy for me to push/pull around.

I get the big builders barrow with the thick rubber ? tyres and poly bowl its so light.

With my old grandfathers one, it would have had to have the top and frame replaced and the wheel wouldn't have lasted much longer either... nothing would have been original on it, it just wasn't worth fixing. My old builders barrow that I have planted up here has the base nearly rusted out but I put another piece of sheet metal on the bottom to stop the dirt falling out. The sides have nearly had it now but should last another year or two. We had repaired that one several times (another hand-me-down from my father ) and decided to retire it and buy a new lighter poly builder barrow to use. Ian has just replaced the legs on that one with much stronger legs as they didn't like the big weights we put in the barrow so will last a long time now.
