Posted - 22/02/2009 : 13:56:47 I've just spent an hour researching Garlic Chives,so versitile so ,edible, even the flowers .They also repel insects. They are also used in many ways medicinally.
MA should not have all those insects with her garlic chives near by ,maybe you need a clump in every garden bed . Here is a site that you can check out many varieties listed on the right side.Scroll right to the end of each one as some have flower pics. There are species with flat or round stems and flowers of white, mauve, yellow and red.

Posted - 22/02/2009 : 19:26:16 They look great MA and so good for you , funny they have'nt flowered. Are they the ones with the garlic flavour. The ones I grew before did'nt flower because I only had a small patch and picked them every day.

I pulled this clump up so I could plant that bed of green manure Its been sitting there on the ground for two weeks maybe longer

A close up see the flat wider leaves I have never seen a flower I asked Tony he said he had seen Blue ones  They are quite big too not as big as Spring Onions though.
