This is going to be the best crop from this passion vine yet.

Plenty more yet to come

Posted - 06/03/2009 : 13:14:55 Mary-Anne, that is the trouble here in autumn, we get warm days and the first part of the night is nice and warm so only need a sheet, around 20 to 22C, but by 3 or 4am it cools right down to low teens and I wake up cold.
How about this snake story at Cooroy which is a little town about half hour south of us http://www.thedaily.com.au/news/2009/mar/04/slithering-under-bedsheets/

We used to get a lot of the whip snakes in Townsville Gail the ones up there were a dark colour with a orange tail, they pack a bite too as you would know. Plenty of Browns ones around too so keep a good watch out..

Posted - 06/03/2009 : 11:57:09 As it was quite cool last night (13C) I thought the snake would have been sluggish but it moved quick enough. We get a lot of yellow faced whip snakes here so hopefully only a green or one of them... trouble is without seeing the head they look very similar to a brown which are fairly common here too. There was a lady bitten by a brown only a few km away the other day. She is always careful in long grass but she only went to hang her washing out a few steps from the back door in short grass and didn't watch where she was walking

Posted - 06/03/2009 : 11:19:18 I will be very careful looking for ripe passionfruit over the next couple of days. Saw a snake slither along the base of the tank this morning where those plants are in the bottom pic. Only saw the back half so couldn't tell what sort it was but it wasn't a small one... it would have to go close to 1.5m long... wasn't Charlie the Carpet python either... and I didn't see where it went

Posted - 06/03/2009 : 06:22:14 It is certainly a healthier and cheaper way Gail I was looking at them again a few weeks back but after seeing the Greek style mixes there decided I had better not as I would be sorely tempted..
I used to have one in the 80's when I lived in Melbourne, same type of container only you heated the milk up to a certain temperature and added a spoon full of commercial yogurt as a starter then you kept a spoon full of each lot to start off the next batch, after so many batches you bought a new starter, the health food shops used to sell a special starter also.
At present I am eating the Gippsland Natural Organic Yogurt it does not seem to have so much sugar and things they put in them that makes them so fattening certainly not as cheap as your way but better for me I think
