Posted - 03/03/2009 : 13:15:24 Its not to hard on the back M A,how its done is we cut an arm full, walk to the trailer and pull the seed off by hand.At $150 per kg it worked out that yesterdays crop is worth $1500,6 hours to harvest,20 hours planting and weeding. It works out well because there`s no middle men,the seed goes from me to be dressed, then in to packets to be sold. |

Posted - 24/02/2009 : 19:53:18 You only need six hours with out rain for it too work Pamela
I used to help Tony split it Richard after he cut it into 45cm log size pieces with the chainsaw I have not done it for three years now as I tore the rotator cuff in my right shoulder carrying a 20lt bucket of water and its still not right. And good on you for cutting those trees down too.

Posted - 24/02/2009 : 13:57:19 Oh yes there are MA. It was blue skies everywhere until an hour ago and it is going to pour soon. Very tropical here at the moment and the grass is taking off like a rocket which is GREAT as the horses have something to eat on my hill and I look out n ow to mostly green in the home paddock as it is all joining up which will be GREAT as it might mean not so much mud next time it rains.
I have a new chemical granule that will kill eucylyptus regrowth and gum trees up to 3 metres as well as wattles if you sprinkle before it rains around the root zone - I am just off to do that minus Sammie the "have to be in everything you do" friend.
Little chick went off to his/her new home today. Alice the duck is a duck not a drake (thankfully) and she is growing black wings - she has black kyuga genes along with welsh harlequin. I hope she will be all black. She has black feet. Love the baby quacks and as she was raised by Spic (or Spec, the hen) she quacks all the time like chooks must make sounds all the time, but maybe you don't hear them as much. Sam tried chasing them all today - oh dear it is a long slow learning curve.
