Ive been selecting those onions now for the last 10 years for ones that don't lose there tops and remain growing through to the following season.The idea behind this so anyone growing this onion can pick it and use it for its green top as well as the onion at any time over a 9 month period.I think maybe two or three more generations i should have a stable line that i will rename Medbury Red

good stuff

My basic weeding rule: if they grow in rows they're flowers;
if they don't they're weeds.

okay cheryl.
i'm back now.

LOL.

do you still have my address richard?
shall i wait to plant these in the spring?...or maybe i should do a bit of both since it's the winter weather over my way that is favourable to onions. but then again, do these bulb on lengthening days, or shortening days?
did i already ask?

I dont think it matters,even though i grow mine in cell trays it just as easy to sow direct,you just end up using more seed that way.
Even though Cheryl you would be able to sow them now and be ok through winter,its the spring sown and left growing through the following winter is what i`m interested in,seeing how they perform.
The Estate Posted - 27/02/2009 : 07:02:00
Do you sow them directly into the ground Richard ?? if so when ??

Rudies - great word I havn't heard that since my crazy mother used to tell the dog off for licking himself stiff and then fulfilled LOL - she used to kind of sing it in a high pitched voice followed by a funny maching gun noise, should have just got him neutered !

A good year is when more things get harvested than die!
