Posted - 07/01/2009 : 16:13:34 This delightful perennial shrub photographed last year before it was destroyed by the house relocaters. They spent days here with all sorts of hydraulic jacks , semi trailer, back hoes and other things I don't know the name of. They were removing the small house to relocate it , after I had sold it This plant was in the way so without checking , it was scooped out and ended up at the dump with all the other rubbish they did'nt want. I did know the name of the plant once, I found it in a book from the library, but only remember the common name as Indian Sage. Has anyone grown this before or know the name .I have a friend who took cuttings of mine so I was able to get her to strike me a cutting , which she did and I have it growing again. I must apoligise for being so long winded just to find out the name of a plant. Pitta.

Posted - 10/01/2009 : 14:46:20 Its amazing how quickly your garden dries out MA,and Gail too I think. Here with this volcanic soil once it gets saturated it stays damp for ages.I suppose living in amid all the tall trees helps a lot also.Pitta.

Posted - 09/01/2009 : 21:32:26 I understand what you mean Gwen. Its as good idea to put the camera in a air-tight bag with some silica gel or similar between shots..

Posted - 09/01/2009 : 21:22:51 I have pics I want Faye to take but at present with the humidity at 98% you just cannot risk getting moisture into a camera. It began raining here an hour ago, nice steady rain , it could keep up all night , hope so . With all the goings on in the gulf we could be in for some bad weather, but we'll just wait and see.The tropics are so unpredictable. I m off to bed , love to lie in bed and listen to the rain on the tin roof. Pitta.

Posted - 08/01/2009 : 09:47:30 Can you describe the plant a bit more such as how big it grows, size and shape of flowers, what are the leaves like (thick, thin, etc), is it a native, any seed pods, etc?
There are other clerodendrons but I don't think there are other blue ones, they are mainly pinks. The only other blue shrubs I can think of are plumbago, Otacanthus, thunbergia (but I think the blue ones are mainly vines), hydrangeas, hardenbergia (shrub forms), solanum (shrub form). I don't know if this helps but it might give you some ideas.

My basic weeding rule: if they grow in rows they're flowers; if they don't they're weeds.

Posted - 07/01/2009 : 18:07:58 Gail.I looked at a Clerodendron site .No I don't think so as when these blue flowers are fully out, the petals are all the same blue and don't have the look of a butterfly. It is not a good enough pic and needs a really detailed close up.When my new one flowers Ill get Faye to do photo's.PITTA.
