I have grown for the first time a lily called * Lilium Tarragona*

Its flowered now and looks very impressive:

The plant:

My white Nov lilies are growing at the rear of the garden and are not long away from flowering.

I am waiting for my Turks Cap lily to open ..shouldn't be too long now.

I love lilies..they remind me of my grandmother who died when I was 15.

Cheers Michelle

Lookin good Michelle, all nice and healthy as well, well done , !!

My basic weeding rule: if they grow in rows they're flowers;
if they don't they're weeds.

Thanks everyone!
yes ,I have just staked the Nov lilies that are shooting up at the rear of the garden. Some of them were growing on a pronounced lean!!

The perfume from the Tarragona lilies is still beautiful even though they are looking a bit bedraggled now.
Still they have lasted a long time and have been very beautiful.

Here is an updated photo, taken yesterday, 7th Dec:

I am amazed that the Turks Cap lilies haven't flowered.
They were very expensive so I hope I haven't lost them!!
I will go through two containers, they will be in one I am sure.
I wonder what happened?

Cheers Michelle

Roses for ever.

Very very pretty. I just have the white ones, but even they never disappoint.

Pitta, the white November Lilies, Lilium longifolium, grow in the sub-tropics ok and I've seen it mentioned somewhere (can't remember where) that they will grow in Cairns. I have them growing here successfully. If you would like to wait a while I can send you some seeds when mine have finished flowering - if they don't grow it won't be any loss. I have grown them from seed and even have one flowering now that was seed planted last year... I wasn't expecting it to flower until next year.

Such lovely blooms, would they grow in our humidity up north .Pitta
What is that lovely blue flower, is it a around cover and is it hardy enough to suffer the tropics .Pitta

They are pretty and will look good with the November lilies.
