Backhousia myrtifolia aka Grey Myrtle

Has the most gorgeous flowers starts out like this.

Then bursts into this.

Good enough for any wedding bouquet:

I will add more pics later as I cannot find the entire shrub ones.

Kitty my plant is only about 1 mt tall and 1.2 mt wide I planted it March 05 the label states it grows 4-6 mts tall and 2-4 mts wide I feel it will never get that size in my lifetime, it could be my soil, lack of rain, anything..

The flowers are cream not white like in the pics above.

Pamela I can imagine your callistemons looking fantastic maybe next Spring you will have the time to take photo's I bet they have grown a lot..

In terms of beauty, the most sensational thing in my garden are my 300 odd or more callistemons in Pink Perth (back row) and Pink Alma (front row) which goes down for a lot of my property. I LOVE roses but for sheer extravagance of blooms and sheer beauty, then these callsitemons are in bloom it is STUNNING. This was a few weeks ago and I was sooooooo busy I did not take many pics.

Beautiful flowers - must take a look at that one - how big does it grow?

I still have not found those other pics yet, they must be on the laptop..

Gail you are so right I used to be the same once, only with me it was wattle and gum trees.

The Lemon myrtle is in bud now another one with a similar flower just beautiful

The natives are often passed over when it comes to flowers but a closer look will change ones mind. Mention natives and most people think bottlebrush but there are so many more shapes and styles which are as good as if not better than many of the exotics. They are beautiful Mary-Anne.

Yes I agree. I have a little similar tree and must go and "inspect" it :-))

Would make a lovely wedding flower and I dont really like natives that much

My basic weeding rule: if they grow in rows they're flowers;
if they don't they're weeds.
