Posted - 24/06/2008 : 11:15:12 due to the recent influx of strange new registrations (all of which have email addresses ending in .cn and the prefixes all looking like advertising banners) i've decided to make this board a registration required board until we can break the cycle of the spamming machines. once we fall off their delivery route, i'll return the board to the open and free board it always has been.
sorry for any inconvenience. |

Posted - 27/09/2008 : 10:44:15 There are a lot of very sad people in the world? |

Posted - 27/09/2008 : 09:49:32 that's a good question, siri. i certainly would never give my money to...let's say for instance...someone who sent me an email pretending that they are someone i know or that they are my courier service pretending they lost my package...and when i open the email, it's a viagra ad. really...who rewards such tactics? but on the other hand...they must generate enough income from it to keep doing it...so what does that say?

Posted - 27/09/2008 : 05:02:12 Ah that explains my problem logging in. I usually come here and I'm already logged on. Had to try 5 passwords before i got the right on - LOL Yes I think it is better to beware. None of us want the spam. One wonders do they actually get anything out of it at all? |

Posted - 05/09/2008 : 11:52:55 pamela, it will only affect you if you log out. all it means is that you must log-in again to post a response, or to read the archives. i've simply made it not possible to register without approval, which means that i say who gets to post. i don't much like the idea of that because i'm all about free expression...but we'd have over a thousand members now without it, most of whom would be spamming the boards with advertisements and porn. so. no way around it anymore, unfortunately.
it's fairly easy to see who's who...but i deleted a few requests for membership that might have actually been legit...and so i was posting that info to them, just in case.

Posted - 04/09/2008 : 20:58:03 wow, folks...things are getting really busy in the registration dept. it's getting hard, at times, to tell who to authorize and who not to. right off...all the .cn requests are dismissed forthwith. these are bots originating in china. the remainder, i IP track to wherever they are originating from. today...there were 28 requests. i deleted all but two, which originated from oz. a third originated from oz...but had, as part of their name AND address...the word 'porn' imbedded into it. if this was you, and there is a logical reason why this letter combination might be a part of your username and email address...then please write to me and let me know. the fourth was a legitimate IP address with a name and email that matched...but it originated in russia. again, sorry if you're a russian visitor and i've deleted you. if you're not a robot...then please write to me and let me know and i will authorize you.
thanks all.
